Detailed Overview of the Fruit Tree Pruning
The owner of a family house in Lázně Toušeň contacted us to take care of two young, eight-year-old apricot trees. The trees had been left without systematic training in previous years, which led to severe crowding inside the crown. However, the most critical issue was a significant infection of monilia blight (monilióza), causing the shoot tips to dry out and the leaves to wither.
We approached the treatment with maximum care regarding the health of the trees:

🛡️ Removal of infected shoots: As a first step, we pruned back all branches visibly affected by monilia blight down to healthy wood to stop the fungal disease from spreading further.

☀️ Crown thinning: We removed crossing, parallel, and inward-growing congested branches. This ensured ideal access for sunlight and fresh air, which is the best prevention against the return of monilia.

🧼 Tool disinfection: Continuous disinfection of our professional pruning shears and saws after every cut on infected wood was a matter of course to prevent transferring spores to healthy parts of the tree.
The apricot trees now have a perfectly balanced, airy crown, giving them plenty of strength to regenerate and bear healthy fruit in the future.
